He is an avid scrabble player and has attended almost all major scrabble tournaments all over the world either as a player or as an official. Sam Kantimathi was the Tournament Director of the 6th Africa Scrabble Championship in Tanzania 2004.
He is the Tournament Director for the 7th Africa Scrabble Championship Abuja Nigeria 2006.
